My Disney Journey

This blog was a journey of my application to Walt Disney World's Cultural Representative Program, from sorting out my CV through all the interviews to a year of having a mouse for a boss! Now, watch as I try to get back to my second home.

Fingers Crossed! September 15, 2011

My weekend away was amazing! The Expo was brilliant, and meeting Jeph Jacques was just plain awesome. As are the sketches he’s done for my walls! 😀 I also managed to spend a little time actually in the capital itself, and I’ve decided that, unless you like museums, Washington DC doesn’t have a huge amount to offer. I guess it might’ve just been the part of town I was in, but I couldn’t find a cute cafe for lunch anywhere!!! I ended up eating sushi at the airport instead!

Can I also just say that I’ll never get used to coming off an airplane and not having to go through passport check! That was just plain weird!

Since I came back, I’ve mostly been working. I spent Tuesday evening after work with Teddy and Ashley, with the plan of having dinner somewhere. We decided upon Saratoga Springs, but got there just after the Turf Club had stopped seating. So we ended up eating at The Artist’s Palette instead. It was still rather yummy, and quite a bit cheaper which is a bonus!

I don’t have a huge amount in the way of plans for the next few days, although I am spending Saturday with a bunch of my Floridian friends. We’re celebrating 4 different birthdays (mine included) by spending the day in Epcot. I believe some people will be “Drinking around the World”. Whether or not I join in is yet to be seen, but I’m not sure I can get that much alcohol in me! I may just have to steal a gulp of other people’s from time to time… at least I can have said I’ll have done it then!

For now, I should be sleeping though. Night!

America is a straaaaaaaaaaange place March 3, 2011

Today was a well needed day off. And yet, I still found myself in Epcot at 9:30am. Fun times. It was for a training interview, which went ok, but I’ll find out next week if I’m becoming a trainer or not. After that I met up with David (Floridian friend), wandered round the park for a bit (flower and garden stuff is really pretty!), then headed to the Rose and Crown for a schedule bid meeting. I will now be having Saturdays and Sundays off!!! Fun times 😀 This means I can hang out with my Floridian friends on Saturdays, and with Terri on Sundays (she has Sundays and Mondays off).

And then it was free time for the rest of the day. Didn’t really do anything in particular, apart from walking around, looking at Flower and Garden stuff. We went to see Captain Eo (very 80s, very funny!), the Figment ride (more catchy than It’s a Small World), and general browsing. Then we headed to Hollywood Studios where I needed to pick something up from yesterday. We went to see Lights, Motors Action while there, which was really good fun. David and I tried to work out what we were doing for lunch all through this, and eventually decided to go off property.

So, back to Epcot, through the park to the car park, and off to I Drive. We ended up at a place called Sushiology… surprise surprise, they sell sushi! Really good sushi too. So after that, we went for a drive up I Drive and David decided we would have a laugh and go look at “the redneck store”. It’s basically a massive Outdoor world store that sells everything from boats to camping gear to fishing gear to clothes right through to guns. The cabinet of guns was quite an eye opener for me. The handguns were all sat there like digital cameras! Kinda gave me a chill down my spine.

After that, I came back home as David had to run off. So I spent the rest of my evening just chilling! Read some of my book, which was highly enjoyable and relaxing. And now I should sleep!

Sushi and Christmas! December 8, 2010

Today was another cold day here in Orlando. I think the whole world is colder than expected at the moment, it’s kinda strange.

This morning started off with a trip to Walmart. No groceries, but odds and sods for Christmas and the flat… wrapping paper, toilet paper, a Christmas tree, etc etc. Then I got home and had to rush straight off to work.

Work was cold. I was chippie filling all day, which I’m actually glad about. In this weather, chippie filler is probably the best role – it’s inside, and it’s warm, and I had great company, which is always wonderful!

Tonight, after work, we’ve had a sushi party! Nanako has taught a few of us how to make sushi, and it seems pretty simple… just takes practice! We’ve also discovered that teriyaki chicken works *really* well in sushi! We also put together our Christmas tree and put the ornaments that we have on it. We’d like to get some more, but it’s a start towards making the flat feel like Christmas! 😀

Tomorrow, I’m off to Animal Kingdom. Spending the whole day there, which will be lovely! I’m really looking forward to seeing all the animals. It’s going to be a fun day! I think a few of us are going to head to the cinema to finally see Harry Potter in the evening. I’m looking forward to that too!! All in all, will be a fun day.

Anyway, the sushi has all been eaten, the tree is pretty, and I think it’s bed time.

Merry Christmas to you all!
